An Adventurous Delight
Dick Brian and Baxter Simpson had been toying with a move from
London for some time. Dick yearned for the country. Baxter loves
the city lifestyle.
"What about Bath?" Baxter suggested one day. He admits with a
smile, "I saw myself living in The Crescent." The first property
from the area that dropped onto their mat was a converted mid 19th
century barn in a quiet country village.
At first they dismissed it as being way above their price range,
but then the spirit of adventure took over. "We came on a whim,"
said Dick, "to have a look around." When they saw the house they
agreed it was not for them. Though it was a large and expensive
property, it had only one bedroom, an impossibly tiny kitchen and no
bath, just a shower room.
However, the charm of the property worked on their subconscious
minds. After that, every property they viewed, they criticised. So
eventually they returned to have another look.
The house had been on the market for some months so the second
time they viewed it, they tried to think laterally. How could the
place be adapted to provide more practical living space?…
