One of the many exciting things about planning a new home or refurbishing the old one is that you can re-arrange or replace the furniture as part of the project. As you move from house to house your needs and tastes will change, and this is the perfect opportunity to reflect your new mood. A few years ago I met a couple who were moving from an old house in the country to a modern penthouse in the town. One interior designer they interviewed told them they would have to ditch all their old furniture and start again. I was horrified by the suggestion, as I believe you should keep the things you love, but be open to new ideas as well. There is no reason why antiques will not fit in a modern interior and vice versa… |
